Ventilation

The Rivelin Gas fire burner is a versatile burner approved for use in a variety of configurations. The appliance shall only be used in an above ground situation, without stagnant areas, where gas leakage and products of combustion are rapidly dispersed by the wind and natural convection.

As a general rule, your Rivelin product can be situated in well ventilated, non-enclosed, outdoors area that is not below normal ground level. Please check with your Local council for actual building standards.

Distance to Combustibles

This is an open flame appliance and must be located at a safe distance from any combustible structure such as a shed, wooden fence, overhanging trees or other flammable materials. Never install a fire pit close to a power source or overhanging power cables. The following distances to combustible materials must be observed:

  1. Above appliance – 2.0 m.
  2. Below appliance – 250mm.
  3. Sides (all round) – 750mm.

Rivelin’s Permanently Installed Gas Fire Tables

Gas fire tables are heavy and as such not mobile fireplaces. Although the fire can be relocated if required, the installation should be classed as a permanent installation and handled as such. This necessitates the gas connection should be classed as a permanent installation and hard piping should be run to the table irrespective of whether it is an LPG or NG installation. The fire can be installed both on hard standing or decking so long as the decking can support the weight of the fire. The fire should not be installed on grass.

It is best to consult a Gas Safe Registered LPG or NG engineer at the start of the installation to ensure all aspects of the installation are covered. Rivelin can suggest engineers capable of installing the table.

Gas Supply

Rivelin Gas Fire Tables are heavy and as such are not mobile fireplaces. Although the fire can be relocated if required, the installation should be classed as a permanent installation.Because of this when installing a Rivelin product, hard plumbing to the underside of the table should be used. A

Some Rivelin Gas fire tables can include a pull out storage drawer into their design. This will limit the area in which both gas pipe and power cable can be positioned to ensure they do not interfere with the underside of the drawer mechanism. Preparation guides for each product are available from the Download section of this website and from each product page. These preparation guides clearly indicate the area in which it is safe to install your gas pipe and electrics in relation to the table base.

For Rivelin outdoor gas fires without a drawer, the incoming gas supply can be brought up anywhere under the table base although positioning the incoming pipes near the center of the table will ensure the maximum amount of movement should the table need repositioning. Again consult the relevant preparation guides for your appliance.

For LPG and Natural Gas installations, please ensure a Gas safe engineer has installed the appropriate pipe for the products location. Rivelin also asks that a tail of pipe is left under the table base approx. 8″ (200mm) in length. From this tail, your gas engineer will be able to connect to the gas burner using hard copper piping on the day of installation.

Gas  Connection

LPG Bottled Gas

LPG Gas Bottles cannot be installed inside or underneath the Rivelin Gas fire table. We recommend building a small area where the bottle can be kept or buying one of the specialised decorative bin stores currently on the market, (for guidance on storing LPG bottles please see our Gas Supply Guide).

You will need to arrange for an LPG Gas Safe engineer to install the fire and connect the gas supply. This is done with the use of an 8mm compression fitting or a Raccord EC. 20 x 150 avec JT fitting, which will be supplied with your Rivelin product, depending on country of Destination. Your LPG Gas Safe engineer will be able to connect this to the Gas supply hose that should be located underneath your table.

Rivelin recommends that an isolation valve is placed between the gas bottle and the gas fire table to allow the gas to be turned off in the case of an emergency or for long periods of non-use, such as over the winter months. Your LPG Gas Safe engineer will make the necessary arrangements.

To facilitate the seamless running of your gas fire pit, 2 LPG gas bottles can be linked together via an automatic changeover unit, ensuring you never run out of gas. Consult Rivelin or your LPG gas engineer regarding this option.

Natural Gas

You will need to arrange for a Gas Safe engineer to install the fire and connect the gas supply. The connection to the fire table is made via a 1/2” compression fitting (either male or female) located on the end of a 400mm stainless steel flexible hose. Both a ½ inch BSP male and ½ BSP female fitting will be included.

Rivelin recommends that an isolation valve is placed between the NG Gas inlet and the gas fire table to allow the gas to be turned off in the case of an emergency or for long periods of non-use, such as over the winter months. Your Natural Gas Safe engineer will make the necessary arrangements.

Burner Electrics

All Rivelin products are supplied as standard BATTERY powered, this applies to both the manual and remote gas burner versions. The power options for each burner type are listed below.

Manual Gas Burner Electric Supply (Battery ONLY)

Rivelin’s manual gas controls for all its gas fire tables and gas fire bowls are powered by 1 x “AA” battery. The position of this battery depends on the model. A video of the battery replacement for the various models is shown in the Rivelin “Battery Replacement Videos”  in the Videos section of this website.

Remote Gas Burner Electric Supply (Battery or 220/240V)

All Rivelin fires can be upgraded to include a remote controlled gas fire burner. These remote controlled gas burners can be powered by either 4 x "AA" batteries or by a permanent 220/240v mains supply.

Battery

Remote gas burners as standard are battery operated. A remote battery pack will be installed within your fire table, the position of the battery pack will depend on the model purchased. The battery needs to be periodically replaced. Videos of the batteries being replaced can be found in the “Battery Replacement Videos”  in the Video section of this website. To successfully install your remote control gas burner powered by battery power:

Step 1: Replace the 4″AA” batteries if required .

Step 2: Turn the isolation key (not fitted to Valencia bowls), an audible beep indicators the burner has power.

Step 3: Light your gas fire table using your handset. Extinguish and repeat using the touchpad mounted on the side of your table (not fitted to Valencia bowls). If a problem exists resolve and repeat until successful. Do not move to step 4 until successful.

Step 4: Replace table top.

220/240V

Some Rivelin Gas fire tables can include a pull out storage drawer. This limits the area in which the electric power cable can be positioned to ensure it does not interfere with the underside of the drawer. Preparation guides are available from the Downloads section of this website or from each individual product page. These preparation guides clearly indicate the area in which it is safe to install your electrics in relation to the table.

For Rivelin outdoor gas fires without a drawer, the incoming electric supply can be brought up anywhere under the table base although positioning the incoming cable near the centre of the table will ensure the maximum amount of movement should the table need re-positioning. Again preparation guides are available if required. To successfully install your remote control gas burner powered by mains power:

Step 1: Connect the 220/240V to the burner transformer housed with an Ip65 rated enclosure.

For a 220/240v installations please ensure that an approved electrician carries out this part of the installation.

Wall Mounted TouchPad

The wall switch control unit is an optional feature which is available with an 8m or 16m cable allowing it to be mounted at some distance from the fire table. The wall mounted touch pad unit can be used to both ignite your Rivelin product and control its flame height and output.

When installing this feature it will be necessary to run the control cable from the Rivelin fire table or bowl to the wall mounted switch beneath the surface on which your fire table will sit. Please bear this in mind when designing your garden as it will need to be installed under the decked or paved areas.

Distance to Combustibles

This is an open flame appliance and must be located at a safe distance from any combustible structure such as a shed, wooden fence, overhanging trees or other flammable materials. Never install a fire pit close to a power source or overhanging power cables. The following distances to combustible materials must be observed:

  1. Above appliance – 2.5 m.
  2. Below appliance – 250mm.
  3. Sides (all round) – 750mm.

Fastening Down Your Fire Table

Gas Fire Table Foot

To ensure your Rivelin product will remain stable under all conditions, it should be fastened down to the area on which it sits. Holes are provided in the foot plates of each gas fire tables and gas fire bowl, through which bolts can be inserted to securely fasten your appliance in place.

Please refer to the specific installation guide that is provided within the delivery crate of each Rivelin product for more information. Install LEDs (Optional)

Madrid Gas Fire Table with White LEDs  Madrid Gas Fire Table with Purple LEDs

Warm White, Extra warm white and RGB under table LED’s are available on a number of Rivelin’s gas fire tables. The system can be controlled via the handset supplied with your Rivelin gas fire table or via an Android and Apple based mobile device App which can be downloaded allowing Phones and Tablets to be used to control your LED’s.

The LED’s come already attached and the handset factory paired to your fires LED’s. To successfully install your LED’s, the following 3 step process needs to be performed with the table top removed from the table base. Further details if required, are provided in the LED installation guide provided with your product or from the Rivelin Download page.

Please note: The LED’s should always be installed by a qualified electrician.

Step 1 Connecting the 220/240V

Run a 220/240V cable to the underside of the table and connect to the transformer within the waterproof enclosure marked ‘LED Housing’.

If you have purchased the optional pull out drawer available with the Bahama and Madrid, a little more care has to be taken when running the cable to the underside of the table. A preparation guide is available from the Download section of this website for each specific table. These guides outline the area where it is safe to bring up both electrical cables and gas pipes to the underside of your table.

Step 2 Testing

All components come pre-installed and are factory paired to the LED’s remote handset. Once the 220/240V is connected, test the lights using the supplied control handset ensuring they are fully responsive across all modes. In case the pairing between handset and table is lost, please consult the Rivelin ‘LED installation Guideprovided with each purchase.

Step 3 Synchronise Devices

Pair all mobile WiFi enabled Devices (Phones and tablets) by downloading the compatible “EasyLighting EasyLife” app on to each one as described in the Rivelin ‘LED Installation Guide. Connect your LED’s to your WiFi network through the downloaded app by selecting ‘Settings’ and pressing “Connect WiFi LED controller to your home network”. Select your network and enter your network password to establish connection. Select Garden as the room type for the LED install.

Press and release the learning button on the WIFI controller installed in the table then scroll the colour wheel on your mobile device. This should cause the LED’s to flash showing that your device is paired. You should now be able to control the LED’s from your mobile device.

Please ensure that this process is performed for all Application enabled devices that will be controlling the table LED’s. Failure to do so will require that the table top needs to be removed to get access to the WiFi controller.

Once all Application enabled devices have been synchronised with the LED control box, replace the plastic enclosure cover and install your table top onto its base.

Rivelin Gas Fire Tables are outdoor fire products and CANNOT be installed indoors.
